" We bought a Breville Barista Express espresso machine after much research of many brands....we are very happy with it....but we forgot that I drink decaf & my guy drinks regular....it is nearly impossible to share a grinder without my getting 'regular' in my decaf & I am someone who cannot tolerate 'hi-octane' coffee - I am a bundle of nerves floating 2 feet off the ground - it may sound like fun, but it is NOT.....soooooo we needed a separate bean grinder.....I researched grinders and read every review of every grinder and loved the idea of having the automatic/adjustable 'doser' just like the espresso machine does......I am soooo pleased with this grinder......the fine grind is exquisite....honestly......it looks great sitting right next to our barista Express & goes into 'sleep' mode when you arent using it & comes 'awake' at the touch of a button....it is quiet and the design keeps the mess of the grounds to a minimum ( hint: I actually use a basting brush to sweep what little grinds there are - it works better than a cloth - I put the 'extra' grinds in a small dish & use every yummy morsel the next time) you can adjust more or less grinds even in the automatic mode ....it is fun to experiment with the 'fine-ness' of the grinds to get the exact result you want.....this grinder is very user friendly and I don't think I even needed to read the directions....but I did anyway...yes, there were some grinders for less $$ and many for more $$$......I think you get what you pay for when it comes to grinders - to a point......I can't really imagine a better grinder than this one and even if I had bought one for twice the $$ - it may be a hair better....but that would be it.....I love my Barista Express BES860XL and my Grinder BCG800XL....I am now a huge fan of Breville"

"We received our smart grinder this week. It works really great and is easy to use. Clean-up for the few errant coffee grinds that I might spill is a snap with the pull out tray.

"If you're used to a spice grinder and now you're trying a real burr grinder, you'll probably grind waaaay too much at first, but when you hit upon the perfect amount to grind, you're going to have the best cup of coffee in your life. Try mixing "8 O'Clock Columbian" beans with Starbucks French Roast beans, a 50/50 mix for an amazing brew. I have a 12 cup drip coffee maker, and I started out with the 12 cup setting on the grinder, and the finest grind for drip brew, and it was too much. I've since switched to an "espresso grind, strong, and the 3 shot setting" for the perfect amount for a full 12 cups, the coffee grinding to a talcum powder like consistency. It's never bitter, and reminds me of New Zealand coffee. Great stuff. "

"I never take the time to write reviews, but I always check them out before I purchase any item. The quality of Breville has changed that. This grinder is awesome, quiet, efficient, and pleasing to look at on the counter. We have a single serve coffee brewer but don't use the pre-made cups because of the expense. This grinder grinds the beans for a perfect cup of coffee from the maker, and a tip for anyone who is using the grinder as I do to grind for single serve machines, leave the collar for the expresso cups in the grinder, the my kcup filter will slide in and catch the back lip so you can grind directly into the small filter and not have to grind then scoop which gets messy. Since I discovered this my husband will even fill the cups, before he just waited for me to do it."

"3 yrs ago I purchased my first Breville espresso/cappuccino maker and although I love my coffee I was left frustrated with my blade grinder. After 3 replacement of the stainless steel filter I started looking for another machine not realizing it is the blade grinder that needed replacement.
I came across a coffee enthusiast site and the majority of the reader recommends burr grinder over blade. With this information I was in a hunt for a burr grinder and came across this product. I was hesitant to make a purchase due to the price but I did it. I must say that I am very happy with this purchase and every morning, for a month now, I often wonder why I haven't done this. The grind is so consistent that I no longer waste coffee and time due to the clogged filter. I kept my Breville espresso/cappuccino maker and now enjoy my coffee faster than any coffee house can make it. The custom cup makes for a no mess grind and the attachment for the filter has very little to no mess which is surprising to me. I have cleaned the grinder once already because I switched coffee bean and I must say it was so easy. And yes I purchased my first Kona coffee bean because of this machine and all I can say is WOW. The bean is expensive and it requires machines that can bring out the best and Breville fit the bill, well at least for me. Even with the original bean that I used to use coffee is a little sweeter without the burnt taste that I normally experience with blade grinder. I will continue to use this machine and maybe even purchase the Milk Cafe in the future. For now I look forward to my first cup every morning and maybe even 2 before leaving for work. Thanks Breville"
