The Bagel feature is exactly what it should be. It increases center..decreases outer element temperatures. Some toasters either rin longer or increase temperatures on all elements. I like the long slot design. good for French or Rye bread.
Not perfect but the most even heat i have seen so far in a reasonably priced toaster.

"We have bought and returned a few toasters in the last few months trying to find what seemed to be impossible, a 4 slice, elongated, wide opening toaster that toasts evenly. I'm so pleased with the even toasting of this product as well as all the other things that it offers. I read all the reviews and I haven't found any cons to be right in my case. The only thing I can relate with is that there is no need for anything above the level 5. We toast perfect regular white bread on 3. I love using this toaster!"

"I have had many other "name brand" toasters, but so far this is the best. I like the wide long slots because they can toast many different types, lengths and widths of bread. The style of this toaster is perfect and goes well with the other stainless steel appliances that are in my kitchen. It is unique in it's design and the smart chip brings it to the 21st century. It hopefully will be the last I'll buy for a while."
