- BEST VALUE AND BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE Thanks for the excellent customer service. I just received my replacement machine, and LOVE it. It's the best value for the money out there, and rivals machines twice or three times the cost. Breville replaced my old machine after 14 months of use (despite the warranty expiring) at no cost. I can't thank you enough Breville.

Excellent Products and Customer Service
I've been using Breville's basic 800ESXL machine for a few years. I wore out the first one after 3 years, and loved it so much that I spent another $400 for a new one. After about 14 months, the machine died again, and Breville replaced it despite it being two months past the warranty. I shipped my broken machine back to Breville, and they replaced it with a similar new/improved model amazingly fast!
I love the new programmable features of this new model. I have to practice getting the grind and tamping pressure just right so that I get optimal water pressure, but so far it's working great!
Thanks for the wonderful customer service -- I will likely purchase other appliances from Breville for that reason alone (not to mention the excellent craftsmanship of their products). I love the heavy-duty stainless steel and classy design. -

MIS NOTAS SOBRE MI CAFETERA BREVILLE ESPRESSO BES820XL

Es una cafetera que definitivamente no es para personas impacientes, que no estan dispuestas a aprender. Definitivamente si eres nuevo en esto de preparar tus propios espressos, capuccinos, lattes, etc... te sentiras desilusionado si no llegas con la actitud de pasar unas cuantas horas a prueba y error aprendiendo, probando diferentes molidos de cafe, diferentes presiones al compactar el cafe en la canastilla, etc. eso para lograr algunas extracciones decentes.
Eso supongo que va para cualquier cafetera para espressos semi automatica o automatica, no es exclusivo de este modelo.
En cuanto a los problemas particulares de este modelo, y supongo que de algunos de esta marca que tambien traen los mismos filtros, son precisamente los filtros presurizados o de doble pared, (pressurized basket, double wall basket). Ya que se tapan muy facilmente, muy seguido (a mi me pasa 8 de cada 10 veces) no importa si los lavo, les paso agua caliente con la cafetera, y utilizo su aditamento para destapar el filtro, no parece que sean soluciones muy confiables ya que me sigue pasando, y pasa aun si cambio el molido de mi cafe a uno mas granulado.
Este problema ya me llego a desesperar, al grado que investigue y descubri que una compañia en EUA dedicada a vender cafeteras, accesorios y refacciones(SeattleCoffeeGear), recibia muchas quejas respecto a estos filtros, asi que por su cuenta mandaron a hacer unos filtros no presurizados que le quedaran a las Breville, y pues ya lo encargue, estoy esperando que me llegue a Mexico. Espero que esto resuelva ese problema, de cualquier manera lo agregare a mis comentarios cuando lo pruebe.
Al mismo tiempo ya mande mis comentarios a Breville y sigo esperando que me digan si ya tienen ellos filtros de una sola pared, o no presurizados que hayan sacado como respuesta a las quejas de los usuarios con este aditamento, ideado para proveer extracciones con mas crema. En cuanto sepa algo tambien lo agregre a mis comentarios.
Tambien a medida que estoy probando mi cafetera he recibido recomendaciones de que me haga de un buen molino de cafe, que de molidos consistentes para espresso, que si no voy a tener problemas con cualquier cafetera de espressos, que el molino es tanto o mas importante que una buena cafetera, el que tengo al parecer no cumple con esto (es un KRUPS GVX-211) , por lo que al menos me voy a tener que gastar unos $2300 pesos mas si quiero un buen molino.
Consumo de Luz,,,,YEOW!! el dia de hoy acabo de recibir mi recibo de luz y casi me voy para atras, he estado un mes usando mucho la cafetera (2-4 cafes diarios) y pase un fin de semana haciendo muchos cafes en mis sesiones de prueba y error.
No se si culpar totalmente a la cafetera pero mi recibo me llego del doble. (pagaba 400 pesos me llego de 800) , hice una prueba con el medidor y cuando prendia la cafetera aun sin estar la bomba encendida, si se aceleraba mucho el medidor). Supongo que eso sera mas o menos igual para cualquier maquina similar.
El compactador de cafe (tamper) esta muy bonito, pero es dificil compactar uniformemente con el, tambien ya me encargue uno, OJO, si compran alguno recuerden que las canastillas de las Breville no son muy grandes,,,chequen de que medida debe ser, yo me pedi uno de 50mm.
Ayer tuve problemas de que la cafetera esta tirando agua, voy a checar si es algo sencillo, y si no hablare al servicio tecnico a ver que me pueden decir. Espero que no sea algo serio que requiera reparacion. En cuanto lo resuelva subo mis comentarios.
Por el momento es todo lo que puedo decir, espero que estas memorias sean de utilidad para aquellos que como yo estuvieran evaluando que cafetera comprarse. O esten aprendiendo su Breville.
Saludos - Initial Impressions - Excellent Machine The Brevelle is my third attempt in finding the perfect machine. After sending the other two machines back,the Breville performed perfectly. The espresso was the best of the three machines and the milk frothed beautifully!!! Expecting my learning curve to take awhile I was pleasantly surprised to have such good results so soon. The owners manual is very easy to read and it also was the best of the three. It also gives the reasons why the machine may not perform as expected so it gives the new espresso maker ways to figure out better the next time. It is beautiful on the counter and I am very happy!
- A Breville customer for life! I purchased my Die-cast espresso machine several months ago and unfortunately it was defective. I contacted customer service and had a response almost immediately. They upgraded my machine and sent it within their 7-10 business day promise. When I spoke to the customer service rep, he seemed genuinely concerned and was very helpful. Breville just earned my customer loyalty for life!' Thank You BREVILLE!

I get much better expresso from a $25 Target machine
I don't know what is happening here, maybe a lapse in quality control. Makes very bad expresso. The expresso is cold and watery. The pressure indicator does not even come close to the optimal range. Also, the most the machine will make at once is two ounces. This seems like a really strange design error to me.There is an awfully long procedure involved in using this machine which is much too involved for me to describe here. Brevile folks what have you foisted upon us here? I got my machine as a premium for using my credit card. I hope that they will allow me to return it. Save your money and buy the $25 Target machine.

There are three coffee drinkers in the house, and we were so sad to have to use our Krups backup machine again. I contacted customer service, and even though my machine was out of warranty - they sent me a brand new machine - no questions asked! It was so refreshing to speak with a person from this country on the phone, and better yet - they were determined to make me happy. It was like early Christmas when we received this machine! We love it! We have figured out the best way to get a wonderful espresso. Three important things - make sure the coffee is fresh, ground just like sand, and tamped firmly. The pressure needle goes into the optimum range, and voila! perfect crema! And the frothing is divine! Breville is now my #1 customer service company! Thanks again Breville for keeping this family caffeinated with syle!

Outstanding! almost commercial grade
Being European myself I have to say that this machine has packed a punch on expectations. The coffee is almost impossible to differentiate the taste from the corner industrial size cafe. And the feel is very commercial grade.

Would be great if the filters were better designed.
Had mine 60 days and loved it till the double-wall filters clogged. None of the recommended fixes work and now my machine is useless.
When I called support they implied it was my fault and made me pay $25 to purchase a new filter which will presumably have the same issues. These filters should be redesigned and replacement filters supplied to purchasers. -
Not worth the money
I have been drinking espresso since 1966. I think that qualifies me and my taste buds as a somewhat expert. And I also grew up in Miami where I enjoyed Cuban coffee at several cafes.
The Breville looks like a great espresso machine. Very smart looking. It does make espresso, but not a very good one. The pressure indicator never got into the optimal range. The coffee came out watery. I was not able to attain any crema. The steam wand works great however, for steaming milk.
I followed the directions from the product manual and tried all the filter pods. And made about 10 espressos. They all tasted like they were brewed in a $30.00 aluminum espresso maker.
Needless to say I returned it for a refund.
