Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine

Café culture for the home countertop. Die-cast aluminum and zinc body. A full 4.5" (11.4 cm) clearance accommodates larger cups – ideal for espresso variations like Americano, Cappuccino, and Café Latte.

Prior to extraction, the unique 15-bar Triple-Prime™ pump automatically releases three bursts of hot water into the filter head, causing the ground coffee to expand. The increased pressure allows the machine to extract more crema and gives the coffee a rich, smooth taste.

6+ years and going strong - Breville 800ESXL

" I purchased a Breville 800ESXL in 2005 and it is still going strong. I did my homework and knew I wanted the heavy-duty diecast aluminum base and the 15-bar pump, and the price was very reasonable for the quality. This is an awesome machine and makes perfect espresso.
I have hard water where I live and would recommend decalcifying your machine regularly - I have purchased the replacement Silicon Steam Rings and over the 6+ years I have owned my machine, I have replaced those rings twice in order to keep a tight seal. When I replaced the rings, I use a phillips screwdriver to remove the "cap" that holds the rings and find calcification deposits that have broken free (probably when I decalcify). Perhaps those exist because I don't decalcify often enough... check your machine and clean those out occasionally.
I stopped using the "pod" filter adapters because the pressure is really tough on the machine. In fact, for a while my machine leaked water out of the slots above the brew head, but it resolved itself when I stopped using the pods (at Customer Services Rep's suggestion) and after I ran another decalcification cycle. No problem and no repair required! Yay!
My next machine will be the Breville Dual Broiler so that I may froth and pull espresso simulataneously. "

Very frustrated

"I purchased my 830XL in July 2010, and in January 2011 it developed a problem in that when I plugged it in, the GFI receptacle in the circuit tripped off, indicating a moisture problem in the wiring. Breville replaced the unit promptly after sending me a prepaid return label, and the replacement unit arrived quickly thereafter. One year and 1 week after I received this replacement, a problem occurred in which, after the machine heated up, it turned itself off abruptly while I was preparing the coffee to brew. It had not been on more than 5 minutes. I was not able to get it on again until I first unplugged it and re-connected it. I tried several things, a long priming and an initial steam cycle, which seemed to help at first, but today the worst happened. I turned the machine on and immediately after it indicated it was ready to brew, it shut off. This happened repeatedly thereafter. (I had brewed two cups of coffee just prior, but was unable to heat and froth my milk for the latte/cappucino that I was preparing. Since my unit had just gone out of warranty, I don't expect to get any help from Breville, but I will still try. This has been a great machine to work with, but for $500, it should certainly last more than one year, warranty or not. If Breville makes this good, I will certainly make an updated review! If not, the two stars stand!"

Great Espresso

"I love this espresso maker. I purchased this espresso maker approximately two years ago. After a year, the machine stopped working. I contacted the company and they gladly and quickly replaced it.

The espresso and cappuccino are great. It is not messy and easy to clean up following use. It needs a deep cleaning at least every other month. I spread the cleaning out longer than that because we enjoy the espresso drinks on weekends. However, I know when it is due for cleaning, should I forget, because it makes more noise.

My husband enjoys my espresso after dinner. When we eat out, he opts to leave the restaurant and have a cup of my espresso rather than drink the espresso at the restaurant.

I love this machine. Unfortunately, I purchased it prior to the release of the later model with the grinder. I would certainly but thay machine if I did not have this one. Congrats to Breville for a great espresso maker."

Great Espresso

"This is a great machine. I purchased this espresso maker about two years ago. It makes a great cup of espresso. The frothing wand makes a perfect froth.

We has an issue with the machine after approximately a year. It stopped functioning. However, we contacted Breville and they replaced the machine. That was a year ago. We have not had a problem with the new machine. I think that the machine has to be deep cleaned every two months. I use the machine on weekends and so I spread these cleanings out a little. When I hear it make noise, I know that it needs to be cleaned.

I recommend this espresso maker. Unfortunately, I purchased this machine prior to release of the newer model with the grinder. But I am happy with this espresso maker. My husband and I love the espresso and the capuccino that I make. After a dinner out, my husband suggests that I make an espresso when we get home rather than having a cup at the restaurant. He enjoys my espresso more than the coffee at the restaurants.

Expresso to match Starbucks

"My family and I spent alot on Starbucks coffee, lattes, cappuccinos. Last year we decided on buying a machine instead. We found plenty of machines made out of plastic but felt they would not last or be able to deliver the 15bars. Then we saw the die-cast Breville & knew that was the one. It also matched with the other die cast Breville machines we currently own. Initially the Breville performed well, was noisy & did vibrate a bit, but then it just fell apart & we just ended up going back to Starbucks.

After 5 months or so, and on my first call to customer, I was asked to send it back. A few days later we were very pleasantly surprised with the newerupgraded model that we had received. I must say that while I was expecting several phone calls/emails to customer service which typically tends to be the case, I was VERY IMPRESSED by the curtious, friendly nature that the CSR had handled this case with. I WILL ALSO SAY THAT THIS PRODUCT ROCKS!!!

Breville engineering have definately produced a brilliant machine that I proudly serve expresso to others with & take the moment to advertise the fact that others should buy one too!!

We definately recommend this product to others and say a proud THANK YOU to Breville."

UPDATED

"We had a very minor issue that the company fixed very quickly. We are used to poor customer service but after a few quick emails, troubleshooting, the Breville had us put ours in the mail and sent us a brand new replacement. So along with the reviews on the quality of the product let me add that the quality of service is 5 star as well.

Now....if I only knew how to delete the other review :)"

I'm a barista!!

"My employer bought this for me as a service award. I've never used an expresso machine and had no idea what I was doing but the machine is so easy to use that it only took a few tries before I was making lattes to rival the expensive coffee houses. We now take the time to make them every morning before work and saving quite a bit of money. I wish I would have bought one years ago. "

800 ESXL

"Have had the 800ESXL for a couple of years now and we love it. I am on your site to order another froth enhancer as ours was accidentally chewed up by the garbage disposal! We buy Starbuck's caramel sauce and coffee and we believe ours is equal to and sometimes better than their's - but without the price tag. This is such a beautiful and sturdy espresso machine that I believe it will last for years, but, the BES830XL sounds terrific!!!"

GREAT COMPANY

"The BES830XL arrived yesterday & this morning I was back to being my "happy self" with this wonderful espresso machine. Many thanks for your kindness in sending this upgraded version as a replacement for my original machine. As per contract, I have told everyone who will listen!!!!! of your generous reponsibility to your products & to me.
You are a special company & this is from an old consumer of many products over the years. With all sincerity, Babette "
