" As bread maker this machine does just fine but if you want to do custom programs to make dough, taking full advantage of things like preheat you are out of luck.

I would have thought a machine this expensive would have full program capabilities but I am sad to say it does not.

I had a less than $60 Sunbeam that equaled this bread machine in many ways.

"Breville makes great products and this bread maker is certainly one of them. It is far easier to use than I expected. This is my first bread maker and I am very pleased.

Considering I have NEVER made bead by hand or machine before my first bread came out almost perfect. I say "almost" because I neglected to watch in case the bread would go slightly over the bread pan. The instructions tell you to look for this BUT I did not. The instruction book is also an excellent companion to the "Custom Loaf". I have had products from other manufacturers and was puzzeled by the lack of help in their manuals.

The Custom Loaf manual is very detailed and helpful. I must confess that even though this was my FIRST attempt at making bread ever, I adapted one of the included recipes to my own taste in my very FIRST try at bread making. My wife said I was a little "brave" to alter a recipe but the instructions give detailed guidelines to alter a recipe.

"I bought this bread machine a few months ago. It works great! Every loaf comes out perfect and I'm using it a LOT more than I imagined. The custom settings are a big plus. You can manually add more rise time for something like a sour dough loaf which rises a bit slower. The folding paddle really works...it makes less of a "dent" in the bottom of the bread and is very easy to take out. I have gotten very creative with breads that I wouldn't have done just using a mixer to make the dough."
