"I love my slow cooker. Heats up very well and like the searing option.
My only complaint and a major one is the outside heat. I burnt myself several time reaching for something on the counter. It gets extremely hot to the touch and can easily burn you.
I called customer service today and the woman advised me that it gets hot like that when it is on for a period of time. Really? It is a slow cooker so it will be on for long periods of time! She said I should be careful and try to use just the handles. I think this is a major flaw in the design. There should have been some type of insulation on the inside to keep the heat away from the sides. Remember the original Rival crock pots - they never burned anyone. How did they do it?
I would recommend this cooker, but know eventually you will burn yourself at least once."

"My last slow cooker's plastic pieces just disintegrated from the heat. After a while you get really frustrated with the cheaper material the slow cooker is made of, so I did my research and I found the Breville slow cooker and you can actually sear meat in it. What a time saver!
I have had the slow cooker for about a month and it has not disappointed me.
A lot of slow cookers still boil even on the low setting, but not this one. I LOVE the 7 qt size and the stainless steel looks great. My only complaint is that I wish it came with a recipe book.
I highly recommend this slow cooker.
November 17, 2010Beautiful slow cooker but a bit lacking in features for the price
"I finally got rid of my Crockpot slow cooker because i was tired of it boiling everything on the low setting. Got the Breville last Saturday and have already cooked two meals in it. I absolutely love the that i can brown or braise my items right in the EasySear insert! Clean up is a breeze too. I wish it had a "keep warm" setting and was also a bit surprised to notice today that my vegetable stew was boiling, not as much as much old crockpot did but still, it was boiling a bit. All in all though, i think I'm going to be very happy with it. "

"I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that I may now use one pan to sear the meat and cook the onions for my Pasta Genovese. And it ALL fits inside the Slow Cooker!
Thank you for the recipes--most crock pot/slow cooker cookbooks are for 4-5 qt cookers, so I was looking for some new dishes to try.
I'd like a little more info in the instruction booklet--maybe a couple of recipes. Otherwise, it's perfect!"

"It is such a beautiful slow cooker/roaster and I'm about to serve my first meal from it.
I enjoyed being able to saute onions, garlic and celery in olive oil, then brown/sear the roast before removing it from stovetop to place in its cradle for slow cooking.
The reason for one star lacking is that even the knob to select the temperature is very hot to the touch. The outside of the insert is hot enough to burn, just like any pan would be, but it is hot, hot, hot, along with the lid and the handle to the lid.
My first time, so I'll experiment next time to see if the knob is hot. That worries me."
February 14, 2010Four out of five crock stars.... LOVE IT!
"The Breville 7 Quart Slow Cooker is in a class of its own. This stainless steel cooker, with a cast aluminum crock takes the art of slow cooking to a new level with its versatility. The materials and design used allows the user to place the non-stick aluminum insert directly on the stove-top to sear meats or saute vegetables. The handle design allows for "straight to tabletop" serving.
Insert can be used on the stove-top
Insert is aluminum, allowing for an extremely uniform heating
This product is VERY easy to clean
The silicon handles allot the insert to be moved from cooker to table
roasting rack included with purchase
It looks GOOD!
There are NO timing features (timer, countdown, programmable, etc)
This cooker may be cost prohibitive ($179.99 from manufacturer)
High heat is high, can cause overheating if not attended to
All things considered.... HIGHLY recommended by the King of Crock, www.kingofcrock.blogspot.com"
