"I just got the over/toaster
The first thing you must do when you turn it on is place it on the pizza setting and press start. Let it run through it's cycle for about 20 minutes until it turns off. This will get rid of the first time factory smell.
Now your ready to rock!"

"Love the fast warm up and even temperature distribution. I also love that it "throttles" the power to the heating elements to just maintain the set temperature. Bagels and toast cook/toast to perfection. Granite Ware small roaster is perfect with this oven....does chicken to a tee. I may never use my full size oven again."

"After years of moderately priced LeLonghi ovens, we upgraded to the Breville. We are disappointed in many features, particularly the difficulty in cleaning the crumb tray and even greater difficulty cleaning the enameled roasting pan. They seem to be made of inferior materials. Fortunately, I kept the DeLonghi roasting pan which is much smaller but comes clean without scouring after roasting chicken, meats, etc. Further, the lack of an interior light is very inconvenient. It often forces me to open the oven door to view the food during the cooking process which is often detrimental to the finished dish -- particularly if I'm baking.
An why does the panel light stay illuminated for so long after the oven has stopped cooking?

The panel light stays on until the unit goes into standby mode. This is to make sure that the current setting is visable prior to starting up the next batch of cooking that you may be doing to make sure that you see what the settings are and are sure they are what you are looking for with your next item."

"This is the best oven (toaster or full size) that I've ever used! It bakes and toasts like ovens are supposed to. The pans that came with my oven are the best pans I've ever used. They bake evenly and clean with very little effort. The 13" pizza/cookie pan is simply awesome. Nothing sticks to it not even burnt cheese! My wife made the best banana nut bread I have ever eaten in this oven. She baked two loaves at the same time and they were nice and browner on top, soft and moist in the middle. The best!! This oven has a setting for everything. Toast, cookies, pizza ( fresh/frozen) whole or by the slice. It has a reheat and warm settings. It has three rack settings for toasting/broiling, baking, and reheat/warm/convection. I could keep going but I think you get the idea. It has a setting for what ever you want to do. Worth every penny and then some!!! It is a very high quality machine inside and out. Very easy on the eyes. Just plain awesome!!"

"Read all the great reviews; purchased and re-organized my counters to accommodate what I thought would be a go-to tool appliance in my kitchen, Upon washing the chrome wire toaster rack with warm sudsy water, I noticed that the chrome was crackled and peeling off in two places. Returned the product immediately. Expected higher quality control at this price level."

"I just bought the BOV800XL /A at Macy's. Some of the boxes just said BOV800XL. I only picked that one because the box was the least banged up.
The pics and labels on the boxes all looked identical otherwise - so is there any difference? Just wondering what the /A means, I want to make sure I got the most recent model

The /A shows that this is an updated model. Now what the update is could be anything from a change in the circuit board to a new trim around a knob, but the model itself has had a change done to it. This holds true for all of our models.

"Well, I have to say that when I opened my new 800XL I was impressed by the style and function. Love the door. Love the LCD. But, I lost some of that love when I touched the timer and temp knobs the first time. They are sloppy and feel so cheap. I hate to even touch them because they feel so poorly designed or put together, like they might fall off. Everyone who touches it agrees and inevitably shakes their head at my investment choice. But, the function knob feels good though! Overall a nice product. I couldn’t wait for it to arrive after reading all the high praise. But for the money, I should be 100% satisfied and, because of the knobs poor feel, I am not. If anyone can tell me if this is an isolated problem with mine I'd like your opinion on the feel of your ovens temp and timer knobs. Maybe I should exchange it. Thank you Jon.

Thank you for your feedback on the Smart Oven! We do understand what you are saying about the knobs and I hope that I can provide a little information as to why they are the way they are. The function button is very tight as there is a very limited number of functions available on it. You have 9 functions on it to move through. However, the time and temperature knobs are a bit looser as you have a larger variety to move through when selecting. Anywhere from 300 to 500 degrees on the temperature and hours, minutes or even seconds for the time. It might feel a bit lower quality to you but the materials are the same, they are merely a bit looser on turning to allow for a greater variety then the function knob."
