Very Positive

"I too am surprised by the negative comments. After using a Tassimo Machine for months and never being satisfied with it my daughter spotted the Breville Cafe Roma Machine on TV or the computer. I immediately looked it up on the internet and was sufficiently impressed to go to Bed Bath and Beyond the next day to purchase one. I have never looked back or regretted the purchase. I drink 1 cup of coffee per day. I use white chocolate mocha sauce, and 3 Starbucks Pods per cup. I steam my milk and clean the machine every couple of months..

I love the machine and the cup of coffee it makes me. I've owned it for over 1 year and have recommended it to friends and if my machine broke today, I'd go out and buy another one tomorrow.."

Nice machine but room for improvement

"I've had this machine for just over a year and still use it every morning. Though it was a slight adjustment being a former barista to using such a tiny machine, it's easy to use (though the family still leaves the lattes up to me.) I've never had problems with it, so weekly washing for the portafilter and drip tray, and quarterly flushing with cleaning solution seems to be a good schedule.
My only dislikes about it are that the steaming is LOUD until you make foam, and it tends to vibrate quite a bit, so I have to hold the espresso cups in place.
Otherwise, this is a very nice espresso machine. Especially paired with the Breville burr grinder :)"

"I bought a cafe aroma expresso machine last year and it never worked good. My heater is not working well compared to my brother who has the same machine. I have to wait 20 min before making a coffe and it s not really warm. I sent it to a repare shop and they clean it and told me everything is working well but it s still have the same problem.
I am currently looking to buy a new one and I was thinking about the model BES860XL from Breville but I am not sure if I should trust it.

Not good

"Looks Great right? ...well put it together, got the water heated, instructions, knob, yeah pretty straightforward, BUT, it did NOT poor shots at ALL, it vibrated completely so loud, the shot cups vibrated away from where the shots poor, if they were to poor, when you turn the steam on, it clunks like an old truck, seriously, NO steam, just THOMP THOMP THOMP! I mean, we tried everything to think maybe we missed this, went through instructions at least 10 freakin times, nothing, not a shot, not steam, just vibrating , clunking thing! Taking it back, was my xmas gift. Even a Krups Machine never made so much noise. =(

Stands the test of time

"I am surprised by the negative responses. My husband purchased this machine for me either 3 or 4 years ago for Christmas (I'm pretty sure it was 4 years ago). I use this machine almost daily and it still works as well as it did when it was brand new. I do use filtered water from my refridgerator's ice/water dispenser and I do clean the steam wand after use, but other than that, this machine takes no maintanence. I love this machine and one of it's best features... there is no glass carafe for me to break, it's stainless steel :)"

never know what you'll get

"Have this machine, was working great for the first couple of months. Now all it does and clog. Has quite a bit of problems draining water though right and left sides. The left side will stop draining all together. Have cleaned it a number of times and still has the same problem. About to through the towel in. It does make great tasting coffee but you never know what you'll get from day to day. Have decalcified it a number of times, tried different grinds, different kinds of purified water, still clogs. For this price it shouldn't be that difficult. Not sure what to do next Have read the manual. I would love to count on this machine and recommend it to me friends. Any help would be appreciated. I think I have a lemon. Had a very difficult time with customer service. They also didn't return my calls. HELP.

"I bought a new "Cafe Roma" today. It leaked all over the place. I called 866-BREVILLE and after waiting a long time I left my number. They never returned my call.
I checked further and found the water tank was cracked.
I have packaged the product and will return it tomorrow unless I hear from them. $200.00 for a defective machine is unacceptable as is the poor quality of their telephone customer service. My network of friends all are waiting for me to comment on the new machine I bought as they are all espresso drinkers. Right now the bad publicity they are about to get is not good for the company.
Don't bother leaving your number when you call 866-BREVILLE. They do not return calls.
