  • Additional Features

The removable bean hopper holds up to 5oz of coffee beans. Easy-to-read settings on the side of the hopper allow you to position the plates to achieve the perfect grind for your specific coffee taste.

The slow nature of the grind imparts minimal heat to the beans, preserving more natural bean flavor than blade grinders.

The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators. Using grinds consistent in shape is a key element in producing flavorful coffee beverages. This way the water can evenly and equally extract flavor out of the grind.

good Grinder

"I've used a lot of grinders in my time and I most say this is one of the best ones i've ever used, this is a very solid piece of equipment I would recommend it over any of the other grinders on the market. I waited a few months before writing this review because I wanted to be fair and put this grinder threw some hard test, Im not a person who grinds coffee whats in a while, I roast my own coffee for friends and family and I grind coffee every other day and this grinder has performed flawlessly, I would love to try there smart grinder and see how it compares to this machine, but for now I'm very happy with this machine!!!!!"

Very Good Product, Great Customer Service

"As you see with the reviews of this product to date, the ratings go from dreadful to terrific -- which porbably says as much about human nature as it does the actual product (just as all men are great in their dreams, so too are all people experts in blogs and chat rooms).

I bought this coffee grinder over a year ago from Williams Sonoma (when you care enough to spend the very most). Like many of the aforementioned "opinionistas", it worked incredibly well right up to the point where the power switch broke. Contacting Williams Sonoma yielded nothing but disdain and apathy (initially from them, I reciprocated). They couldn't have cared less.

Although I no longer had my proof of purchase, or original packaging, the good people of Breville recognized the problem professionally, expediciously, and made me feel like they actually care about the reception of their goods in the marketplace. Their fixing my problem was beyond swift and satisfactory.

The true marque of a brand (or anything else in life) isn't how they behave when things are going well, it's how they respond when things go wrong. In this regard, the coffee grinder gets four stars, Breville gets six (out of a possible five).

I have no hesitation recommending their products - or the company. As a converted brand loyalist, I intend to buy more Breville branded products as much or more for the people behind the goods than the goods themselves. They are to be commended and rewarded with my loyalty and commerce!!"

Very good to excellent

"I have a Breville Toaster, Burr Grinder and Espresso Machine and now I am ready to purchase the Toaster Oven.
The Burr Grinder works great, never a problem. Most problem is with very oily coffee, it just does not grind very well."

A fix for a problem

"Love this grinder, other than my local roaster, SLCR - Roasting.com, this is the best grind. Purchased March 2010. The grind slowly became coarser and finally stopped working making only a hollow popping noise and no longer grinding at all. I tried cleaning everything out with a kitchen nylon brush, but it still was not working. Contacted Breville here on this site and was preparing to ship it back.

Then, having seen how the bean basket bore down on the top of the cone to adjust the coarseness of the grind and seeing some grounds still in the bottom, I used an air hose with 70-90 psi compressed air and blew it out outdoors. Perfect! It now works as well as the day it was new. A compressed air can from an office supply house would probably work just as well. I also now lightly rest a hand on the lid of the bean basket while it is grinding so that hard beans do not push the basket upwards and allow grounds to get under the basket.

I hope that this helps another Breville owner. 5 star grinder -1 for the grounds pushing upwards out of adjustment."

Best grinder I have ever had

"It is durable, has a great design, and makes highly uniform grinds for each setting. It is much quieter than my last, Italian-American grinder, which needed frequent cleaning."

awesome

"This pairs great with my Breville die-cast espresso machine. Amazing crema, perfect grind. Do not know what people are saying that this won't grind fine enough for espresso machines, I don't even have it on the finest setting(Turkish), so there is room to grind finer. I paid 89 dollars on Amazon, great deal!"

overall good with a couple of exceptions...

"The product performs adequately for home use. However, there are two issues which should be addressed during re-design. The plastic container/receptacle which collects the ground coffee is flimsy and not well-designed. The top which needs to be opened to empty the container easily breaks. Mine broke within six months. The second problem is static electricity. The unit tends to build up quite a bit of static during grinding which tends to make the process messy. I am looking to purchase another grinder and will ONLY consider other brands because of the problems mentioned. "

terrible

"This grinder does not grind evenly and the beans, once they are ground jump out of the ground collector. The machine make the beans very staticy, thus making this machine very messy. "

ginds well, not durable

"Worked well grinding coffee on a daily basis. Was a bit messy as static electricity builds up in the coffee ground drawer. After one year started making loud noises as though a gear inside broke, then stopped working. Not what I expected for $100."

one star or less!

"I have had this grinder just long enough to go out of warrenty. One morning, I went to grind coffee and it would not grind at all. Period. I took everything that I could apart and nothing. Will not work at all. Sounds like it wants to start, but won't. Called the company. No help there. Sorry about your luck and loss of $100+ with tax. Never again will I buy from Breville since they will not stand behind their costly products! I have a Cuisinart now and it works just as well for half the price! I know they stand behind their products!"
