the Milk Cafe

Creamy milk and hot chocolate maker.

Hot milk drinks are best when made with the smallest bubbles. Rather than a bubble bath, it's that creamy consistency that creates a rich hot chocolate or a smooth latte or cappuccino.

The Milk Café uses induction heating and spinning to make those small bubbles. Simply choose the appropriate frothing disc — latte for a creamy result, the cappuccino disc for more froth — fill with enough milk for one or up to three cups, select your temperature, and start.

The Milk Café will froth and turn itself off when the desired temperature is achieved. And as it uses induction heating, you can simply place the jug in the dishwasher for easy cleaning.

"I have had this brother for years. I was reluctant because of the price point for a frother. The induction method of heat leaves no room for messes, spills, or cleaning up crusted milk from boiling over.
It is super clean, classy, and very user friendly. It comes with two frothing heads for those who prefer more or less froth depending on what drink is being made. --allowing froth without added fat... luxury that is guilt free.
Its cold frothing element makes it so easy to enjoy cold milk based drinks as well.
Its uses are many, and its temperature variable control is a winner in my book.
I use this machine at least once daily.

Great machine

"I have had the mild steamer for three years. It works perfectly and makes very stiff froth. A bit noisy. Easy to clean. I have not used it to make hot chocolate. Not cheap, but a great product."

A Love of Mine!

"I have never had an electric stand alone frother before. What really made me buy this product besides the fact that I wanted warm milk for my coffees is the fact that it also does hot chocolate! I have had this product for a year and it still runs very very strong! The only single con I have about this in comparison to other stand alone frothers is that the froth is not silky and fine, but we are looking at a machine that is the only one it it's class to froth a large amount of milk for two or more people at a time.

I love the variable temperature settings from cold, to warm, to hot. The hot setting not being ideal for froth but for hot chocolate. For hot chocolate, it is easy to start the frother, then dropping the ingredients through the hole in the lead which also comes with a measuring cup.

Lastly, just a personal favorite that I like to do. To make a lovely cup of rich hot chocolate in the Milk Cafe, pour the hot chocolate in your favorite mug, and quickly wash it out and dry the parts, then froth some milk to pour on top of your hot chocolate. Might sound like a lot of work, but it's a personal fave. Better if you have both the milk cafe and the Hot Choc & Froth by Breville also. You can make hot chocolate in one while frothing milk in the other."

Love! Love! Love!

"I am beyond thrilled to have discovered the Breville Milk Cafe! Having spent years cursing the lukewarm froth generated by a top competitor's frothers (yes, two), I at last enjoy no-fuss, extra-hot cappuccinos in the comfort of my home! No more heating cappuccinos in the microwave, no more trips to Starbucks--the Breville Milk Cafe whips up wonderfully, glorious and abundant HOT froth, with great ease! Plus, it's my experience, ounce for ounce The Breville Milk Cafe whips a greater volume of froth compared to the rival. One small mention, I do need to get in the habit of putting the carafe on the power base prior to adding milk because several times the cappuccino frothing disc has popped off the peg without my even realizing--but that's a result of my own User Error and wouldn't happen if I followed their directions.

Start with Breville--the competition can't touch them!

EXCELLENT machine!!

"I absolutely love this milk frother. I have made hot cocoa with whole cows milk. This tasted great but barely frothed. I think it was user error. I should have let it get frothed first THEN added the powder cocoa. I have made amazing froth with Blue Diamond vanilla unsweetened almond milk. This is by far my favorite for milks. I let it heat and make amazing froth, at 130*, then turn the machine up to 160* and add the flavored syrup of my choice. VIOLA!! I have something akin to whipped cream and it is fabulous!! I have done with using William Sonoma pumpkin spice syrup and made chai lattes that are terrific. Also chocolate mocha sauce and topped espresso.
I absolutely adore my Breville Milk Café!!!!"

Not Hot enough

"This is a great item to have it foams great but it never get the milk hot enough I have been heating it longer to get the heat I want which is around the 170 mark. If it is to go that hot let me know for I can return this I got as a gift at Christmas."

outstanding foamer

"I purchased the Milk Cafe two years ago just for hot cocoa and was very pleased with the results although I only used it during the winter months. Then I received a Nespresso maker last year and now I use the Milk Cafe every single day for the best foamed milk ever. It never fails to produce the best foam at just the right temp. (no scalded milk to ruin a good cap) I do suggest that you use organic milk (either whole or 2%) for best results (I suspect it has a higher protein count than non organic and that makes all the difference in the world when you want the finest foam on that morning cappuccino or latte!) I was somewhat guilty for buying what is clearly a product aimed at the people with excessive disposable income, but I'll learn to live with this guilt as I have a proper cappuccino every day. (I may burn in hell for this attitude). "

"I purchased this product from a retailer on ebay because it was lower in price. The picture that had been provided showed that it went to extra hot but when I received the item there isn't an extra hot setting!? So it's now been returned. Breville please make this machine with an extra hot setting. 160-170 isn't hot enough on freezing cold days, 170-185 would be best! This product would have been perfect if it didn't go cold within seconds of hitting my mug. The temp stays mildly warm if put in a travel mug. Anyway.. great machine.. not enough temperature control options!!!

Works Perfectly!

"I purchased the Milk Cafe in November 2010 and I've used it at least once a week since. It works just as well now as it did then. I prefer using this to the steaming wand on my espresso machine. Its a snap to clean and is extremely well constructed. I've even used soy milk in it. It doesn't froth as good as milk but it still did a decent job."

Milk issues...

"Just got one, worked beautifully until it stopped working--tried foaming skim, 2%, nothing but a few big bubbles, not the beautiful dense mass of the day before. Only difference was using organic milk--skim & 2%. Went back to store & got 'regular' skim & foam is perfect again. Maybe because organic milk is heated to a higher degree (?)

Also wish there was a small cup option, as it's used for macchiato, so even the minimum delivers more than needed & much is tossed. Still, beautifully designed (love the plug) and (with the right milk) beautiful froth...
