Works great, when it works.....

"After years of using a $25 Hamilton Beach every so often I adopted a new healthier lifestyle and part of it required a more powerful blender. After much research, I got my first Hemisphere Control Feb 25, 2012. I used it everyday, sometimes two or three times a day. Smoothies (including green ones with kale), almond & cashew butter, hummus, mayonnaise, even black bean truffles all came out perfect. It's a good size, looks good and feels substantial. Has enough controls for my needs. It cleans up fast with a little warm water & soap. I couldn't be happier. Then one day in Oct 2012, it just would not turn on for no reason I knew of - I'd used it the night before and it seemed fine. It was still under warranty. Customer service was great and before I even got off the phone they'd emailed a prepaid shipping label to me. As soon as the return was scanned a new blender was on its way to me from the warehouse. While I waited for it to arrive, I got a Ninja Kitchen System since that was the other one I'd been considering and figured I would sell whichever one I didn't like best on eBay. I hated the Ninja and couldn't wait for the Breville to come. The Ninja was too big, too loud and hard to clean. It couldn't make almond butter either. So the new Breville came and I was in heaven again, until today. As I washed dishes, I noticed that two of the four guide rails on the underside the jug had cracks in them. Then I was looking at the lid. A piece of plastic in area where the measuring cup locks into the hole in the lid was completely broken off. A week earlier I'd found a small piece of plastic in a smoothie - thank goodness I hadn't swallowed it. But I'd kept it on the window sill because I couldn't figure where it had come from and that bothered me. Now I knew. This time Customer Service asked me to email pictures of what I was talking about to them. I still have not heard back from them yet. But I am feeling very leary about another replacement. There is only 1 month left on the warranty and I really cannot afford a Vitamix or one of the other high end blenders. But clearly, this machine cannot stand up to daily use and having tiny bits of plastic in my drinks or food is just dangerous. If you want it for occasional use, the Breville Hemishere is great. But if you are a daily user, I think the extra $$ for one of the higher ends is the way to go. This is turning out to be an expensive lesson to me, as I doubt I'll get the $199 back for a years use of this blender and will still have to come up with at least twice as much for a new one. "

Not worth it

"Bought this product about a week ago. The blender has been working fine untill today where i press the button and the blender goes off on the highest setting for 4 seconds and than shutsoff. I really thought this product would be right for me . But it cannot even last a week. sad."

Best Blender for the Price!

"I got this blender about 6 months ago when Consumer Report put it at the same class as the Vitamix Blender with it only being 1/2 of the cost. Let me tell you from owning lot of variety of Breville products that if they start selling anything that is below the competition, you better jump on it cause usually they sell products at a much higher price point.

The smoothie function is great, the blade is shaped like a outside of a bowl and the jar is shaped inwards so that the chunks fall into the bottom where it can blend the food items into a very smooth texture.

I have no idea if it blends iphones like Vitamix, but I really do not like to have iphone smoothie before working out so stuff like that does not matter too much to me. What matter is that I get a great texture smoothie for pre and post workout with this blender. "

Love It

"I just got this today so I've only made a few things in it. I was a little frustrated with the smoothie setting and my frozen fruit. But, once I READ the instructions I saw the recommendation to use the ice crush/pulse feature on frozen fruit. Hopefully this will solve my issue. The smoothie function worked beautifully on my fresh fruit however. Next up, milkshakes! "

Met my expectations

"The blender has proven to fit the bill. Love my smoothies that I make as opposed to the ones I use to buy at Smoothie King. Looking forward to many...many years of it being a workhorse in my kitchen. I definitely would recommend it as a really exceptional blender."
